Claire Berghorst

Yoga in Cawsand

27th-30th September 2024

Practising with Joy

Ashtanga vinyasa yoga is a deeply personal practice. Sometimes we practice alone at home, sometimes we step into a shala and share our practice and our vulnerabilities with others.

During the retreat all practitioners are welcome, whether you are flying through an advanced series, just learning the standing poses or working with an injury or mental setback. We will have a combination of counted classes fusing group energy and Mysore style, allowing Claire to support each of you individually. The retreat will also include 3 afternoon workshops where we will have the opportunity to be curious and explore topics from the all important foundations to finding a soft fluidity in backbends and bringing our pranayama practice into action.

Claire has practised Ashtanga yoga daily since her early twenties. During that time, life has flowed with abundance, becoming a wife, a mother and completing the Ashtanga 4th series. As life flows it includes everything the highs and the lows, and hence her practice has vacillated between fiery highs and sweet softening.

Claire's approach is very much one of holding and supporting, teaching with kindness and compassion. Practising for any extended duration has to include it all... 'Practice, practice do your practice and all is coming..'. Claire is passionate about enabling students to create a practice for life, one that is there to support you through it all.

Claire Berghorst has been teaching yoga on a full time basis since 2008, and has completed several teacher trainings both locally and internationally. Always a student first, she continues to practise and study with her teachers on a regular basis, allowing her experiences and learnings on the mat to feedback into her teachings; openly sharing her own stumblings and learnings along the way. She has completed the Ashtanga 4th series, a challenging practice that balances strength and grace in equal measure,

Claire’s passion for yoga is readily experienced in her classes, where she welcomes students of all abilities. She believes that the practice should be supportive and adaptable to the individual, creating a sustainable practice. She passionately believes in empowering students to develop a nurturing regular practice. Her teaching style is open and supportive of the individual.

For Claire, yoga is an internal exploration of self discovery that should be kind and honest, yet fun. She enjoys finding that perfect balance between strength, flexibility and a steady mind. This balance translates into her own life, where her passion for family, health, wellness and abundance merge.
