Wyld Devon
Tamar Valley
29th May-2nd June 2025
Rumleigh Farm is a rare, idyllic treasure hidden away in the Tamar Valley - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). It is set in 17 acres including riverside access, a beautiful apple orchard, poly tunnel, veg garden, wood fired hot tub and stunning private gardens. The farmstead has been in existence since before the Domesday Book. The main lounge has that deep feeling of calm that you normally only find in old churches and chapels and it is not surprising that the property is situated on lay lines.
If you are looking for a rustic haven to relax and enjoy the beautiful countryside and truly get away from it all, then this really is the place. Nestled in the Tamar Valley on the banks of the River Tamar, the border between Devon and Cornwall, the farm is completely surrounded by nature. One of those rare places that you feel completely cut off from the rest of the world. A true resting place.
Rumleigh Farm aim's to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Currently going through conversion with the Soil Association to be completely organic, they sustainably farm rare breed sheep, goats and heritage apple varieties. The farmstead is a mixture of ancient buildings, some of which are converted to allow for comfortable modern living.

What to expect in a Vinyasa Krama Flow style class?
Vinyasa = the principle of synchronising breath with movement
Krama = wise progression / steps or stages
Class starts with a focus on breath and we’ll build a breath-timed practice to stretch, strengthen and soften the body, bringing balance and connection as we tune it to listen to what is happening now and what we need next. This practice is a chance to bring our reasoning intelligence to a sequence of asana (postures) to work safely and steadily towards a chosen pose or set of poses.
Every class has a balance of movement dynamics, but in each session we’ll take a different focus: perhaps forward bends for grounding; a hip sequence for full body flow, or heart-opening backbends – or a peak pose requiring a number of these elements as we work towards it.
Through this practice we take our joints through their full range of movement, maintaining ease and steadiness throughout our system and a healthy flow of energy to carry off the mat as we move through life. We also take the time to explore the energetic intention of different movement practices and link this to the a yogic physiology of the body.
I love this way of practicing yoga, it allows us to work towards our edge, those illusive poses, but without any pressure to push into the full expression of the pose; instead we build the blocks: strengthening, stretching and building balance, while enjoying the journey rather than any final end point.
Class always ends with pranayama and savasana to consolidate the benefits of our practice.
Bethan has been teaching yoga classes in Bristol since 2008, her classes are inspired by Vinyasa Krama, Ashtanga and Viniyoga and influenced by Tai Chi. She trained at The Life Centre and YogaCampus, for her British Wheel of Yoga Diploma in 2008 and has subsequently taken Ashtanga trainings in New Zealand with John Scott, in Colorado with Richard Freeman, in Edinburgh with David Swenson, and in Bristol with her first teacher training mentor, Ashtanga and Breathwork master teacher Christopher Gladwell. She studied Viniyoga with senior teacher Paul Harvey at the Yoganjali studio in Bristol (now YogaSpace). Her current teacher is Yoga Elder, Sarah Harlow who co-developed the Yogasara Krama Vinyasa Tantra teaching method. She has studied Bhakti Yoga, Movement Medicine and Internal Family Systems with Sarah over the years and is now studying on an Advanced 500 hour Teacher Training at Yogasara.
Laura has extensive experience running, teaching and hosting retreats. In fact it was her way of life for many moons and so it now comes as second nature to her. She is now exploring the hiking side of the retreats and combining her love of the mountains and being out in the wilderness with the practice of yoga itself. She is has completed her Hill and Moorland Training with IBEX OUTDOORS and has just become a Hill and Moorland Leader - with Bryn Williams Mountaineering both through the Mountain Training Association.
This means she is fully prepared to take people out in the wild. Having utmost respect for the mountains and acknowledging mother natures power she will recruit the help of a qualified Mountain Leader whenever the altitude gets high or the terrain gets rocky.

Accommodation
This grade II listed farmstead has been wonderfully renovated and offers classic country comfort whilst aiming to be as environmentally friendly as possible. With parts of the farm dating back to the 13th Century, Rumleigh Farm has been a fixture on the Bere Peninsular for hundreds of years. Thick granite walls and cosy fireplaces cocoon you in the Winter and in the Summer the 17 acres of rolling farmland down to the river are a delight to explore. In the main farmhouse there is spacious and comfortable living room, that was the original Medieval Long Barn, there is an enormous fireplace with stonework allegedly from Tavistock Abbey that was destroyed during Henry VIII’s Dissolution of the Monasteries. This is the ideal place to congregate and relax around the fire.
With no passing traffic or light pollution this is a place where nature comes first. They have worked hard to retain that ethos, while creating a comfortable luxurious place to stay.
