About Yoga, health and living your best life
Wyld Grace Retreats
The name ‘Wyld’ was given to a member of the family who was a person of wild or undisciplined character. The name was originally derived from the Old English word wilde, meaning untamed or uncivilized.
At Wyld grace retreats we believe that nature really is medicine for the soul, and will get you back to your wyld roots. Leaving civilization far behind we will take you to the really wyld places often left unseen. Using yoga, hiking, nutrition and joy as our fundamentals we will venture out to the mountains, forests and coast lines to get back in touch with being in the wilderness, where nature rules.
Embracing Uncertainty
Have you ever realised that we are constantly reacting to what has just happened.
We are always one step behind. Life happens. We react.
We never really know what is about to happen, until it just has.
Many of us try to control things. We chase security. We try to lock things down. Hold onto them. Own them.
Make things ‘ours’. Things that don’t really belong to us.
Mortgages, marriages and even children…. Are all things that belong not to us….
The prophet "Our children come through you yet belong not to you."

Claire Berghosrt
Breath first, move second
I’ve been practicing how to float. Now I’m super good at over doing it—at trying too hard. This is something I’m aware of. In a desperate attempt to “not do it wrong” I over do my teacher’s useful tips and instructions.
Luckily for me, he sees straight through me and is aware of my “over dong it” capabilities. Therefore, he is gentle with his words and picks them carefully, over emphasising words like subtlety and softly. He often says, “And don’t over do it,” as he knows that I have not yet burned through that samsakra.
It was this same, wonderful teacher who pointed out that what we do on the mat is often what we do off the mat. Our attitudes and behaviours are exactly the same, and they way we do things in our lives is the same as the way we do them on our yoga mats.

Black Lotus Yoga
The black lotus flower is a symbol of the rebellious spirit, a symbol of the one who moves off on her own, who follows the path that opens up to her and refuses all pressures to conform. Her sole authority is the voice of her heart, and she follows that voice wherever it leads. This is how she stays aligned with her truth, and nurtures the unfoldment of her being—she relates to herself openly, in her own unique way, and she has her own dance with darkness. To do anything else, she knows, would be a betrayal to her soul.
Black is the color of sorrow, and the rebellious spirit knows sorrow intimately, for sorrow is the pith of human life, and that is what she eats for her nourishment. As the black lotus flower pulls the darkness up from the mud, and spreads it out upon its petals, so the rebellious spirit drinks deeply from the well.

She allows the darkness to rise through her, and she holds it up to the light, where it shimmers with every colour on the spectrum. In doing this soulful thing, she sustains a sense of her wholeness. There is nothing more natural to her being.
Sorrow falls through sweat and tears. Both have soaked the world, and made it more fertile. These are the rains of sorrow, and they always fall on time. They keep the soil soft for new shoots to rise. They seep into the depths of our hearts, and they collect in hidden chambers, to swirl with a potency of their own. Drought may strike above, and the body may harden, but the currents of sorrow continue to move within us. All that we love is ever slipping away, and some part of us is ever dying—these are the truths of human life. The question is whether we harden before them, and allow ourselves to stagnate, or we open up, and find the secret of renewal. TY LANDRUM. - click here for the source!
I've not long returned home from a completely unforgettable, magical week
Andrew - Edinburgh
I've not long returned home from a completely unforgettable, magical week on the Isle of Skye. Fantastic location and equally fantastic group of people to retreat with. Amazing scenery, delicious food and great company. We could not have had better weather, though that was a bonus as I'm sure the week would have been great in a different way even if it poured the whole time! Laura has such a compassionate and joyful approach to her yoga teaching and the hiking we enjoyed, but also in every aspect of our week away.
I cannot recommend Wyld Grace any more highly!
Thank you Laura, Amy and everyone!!
Great company, amazing food and breathtaking location.

It was the perfect way to experience the magic of Skye. Laura hosted a warm and delightful environment and lead beautiful yoga practices. Chloe is truly a talented chef. Everything was delicious and varied. The highlight of the retreat for me was the windy Munro. I felt so alive! Thank you both and all who attended for the memories!
